Separation On The River Kiang ( aka Seeing Off Meng Haoran at Yellow Crane Tower ) by Li Po

Ko-Jin goes west from Ko-kaku-ro, The smoke-flowers are blurred over the river. His lone sail blots the far sky. And now I see only the river, The long Kiang, reaching heaven. --Translated by Ezra Pound in Cathay 1915. Ezra Pound translated this and the other Chinese poems in "Cathay" using texts with Japanese names. Thus, Ko-jin is Japanese for Meng Hao-jan; and "Kiang" is Japanese for the Yangtze River.
